Hi

I suggest that you contact Bluebird and ask them:

"Have questions? Need help at 2AM? We have real people waiting around the clock to hear from you.

US: 1 (877) 486-5990

International Collect: 1 (801) 449-4016

Remember, you can always find the free 24/7 Customer Service number on the back of your Bluebird Card."

Contact Us

In order be able to add a card to Apple Pay, the card must be a supported card from a participating issuer. Not all cards that are issued by any given participating issuer are necessarily supported for use with Apple Pay.

The decision regarding which cards are supported rests with each issuer. Apple does not publish a list of supported cards. To find out whether your card is supported for Apple Pay, you can either:

  • Contact the issuer (the information may also be published on their website).
  • Try adding the card (you will be advised if it cannot be added).

I’ve had a Bluebird card since before AMEX bought the company. (They we’re trying to complete in the online payment/PayPal space). But regardless of the history, AMEX does not support their pre-paid instruments with Apple Pay. When I talked to them several years ago, they said it would likely be adding support for it. They also said that they were going to be switching the cards to CHIP and PIN cards. And neither of those have happened yet.
