App icon not loading/showing on my apple watch series 3

Apple advises that the issue of app icons not appearing in notifications on Apple Watch is addressed under iOS 11.1, released today.

watchOS 4.1 has also been released.

Follow the instructions here to update your iPhone and Apple Watch, starting with your iPhone and beginning by making a backup of your iPhone:

Other users are experiencing the same issue with various apps.

It may help to install any available update on your iPhone (in the App Store app > Updates) for the app(s) to which the affected notifications relate.

Otherwise, I suggest that you let the app developer and Apple know about the issue and/or wait to see whether it is resolved under the next version of watchOS (for which a date has not been announced):

I have a first edition of the watch. the map feature is not displaying, blacked-out, not loading. it still does a turn notification,(strange..), while driving with maps on iPhone 7.

deleted app from phone, restarted both, and reset both and re-paired watch to phone.

Still have a blacked-out icon and still unable to load on watch.

No, still have a blacked-out icon. It’s like waiting to load the app.

I do not have a series 3 watch. It is a series zero, first year release.
