A USB 3.0 optical drive will be far cheaper and plenty fast enough.

Then figure out a new USB configuration to run the USB 3.0 optical directly from one of the USB 3.0 ports on your Mac!
You are going to pay 3X-4X the price for a Thunderbolt drive!
Do you really want to pay that much more to burn Blu-Ray/DVD discs?

Thanks for the quick reply. I know the USB 3.0 is cheaper but I understand that it requires a direct connect to the computer and it is having issues running on a powered hub
