My Facetime Won't Show Other Person

When making or receiving calls to my MacBook Air (OS X 10.9.5) from Iphones, my Facetime only shows my camera's footage. The other person can see me and their facetime seems to work perfectly. Only my computer is effected. My internet signal is strong (Facetime works properly on my Iphone when utilizing the same Internet) and when the call is between a devise other than an Iphone it seems to work properly. What can I do to fix this glitch?

Hey cwilkening,

Thanks for the information. Since you stay on the same Wi-Fi network and FaceTime works if the other user uses a different device to call you on the MacBook Air, and there is no issue with FaceTime calls on the iPhone while on this Wi-Fi, it sounds like this may be an issue with the other users iPhone connectivity, either their cellular or Wi-Fi connection.

If your cellular connection or Wi-Fi network are running slow, or other users are streaming audio or video on the same Wi-Fi network, you might have these issues:

  • Connection alerts or unable to connect
  • Choppy video calls
  • Black screen
  • Dropped calls

Make sure that both you and the person that you're calling are using a fast Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If you’re using Wi-Fi, FaceTime requires a broadband connection.

If you can't make a FaceTime call on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take care.

Hey cwilkening,

If I understand correctly, you are not seeing video in FaceTime of the other person. Since this is only happening on your MacBook Air and not on the iOS devices, you can start looking at how the MacBook connects to the internet. You can create a new user account to see if something running in the background is causing this to happen. I would recommend you read these articles and use them to help troubleshoot the issue.
