Bounced files are randomly corrupted by sudden periods of silence or interrupted audio

I can't remember which upgrade this problem started with but it persists. I'm not sure if it's a user error or a problem inherent in Logic Pro. It never used to occur.

When I bounce selections from an edited Logic Pro Project some of the resulting bounced audio files will be corrupted with large passages of silence. Some will be fine and some will be crap. e.g. A 5 minute bounced music track will be humming along nicely when suddenly the sound cuts out at some random point and then stays that way until the end of the track. Less frequently in some instances the sound cuts in and out rapidly.

These are not complex projects. Normally simple live piano recordings that have been segmented into sections so I can bounce them as individual tracks. The sections have a little compression and reverb added to them. That's about it.

Is this a known problem with Logic Pro?

Could it be caused by other applications running in the background?

I'd love to get this resolved. It's time consuming and very irritating.

PS: If I bounce to an AIFF and and MP3, both tracks suffer with the same problem.

Some settings that might help.

In Logic's Preferences/Audio under Multithreading set to Playback Tracks, not Playback & Live Tracks

Under Processing Threads, click hold and see what's the maximum number of threads you have. If you have four, set it to two. (as a test). Also, set your I/O Buffer to 256, 512 or even 1024. Now run a rest, any difference?

Still having a problem?

Now here's the uncomfortable part... Logic is having trouble on some Retina based machines. Try running Logic in Low-Res mode. Close Logic, go to Application, get INFO on the Logic App. There sghould be a lo-res setting there, now try a bounce.

Demo mode only applies to 3rd party plugins. If you only use Logics' own, then that option is off the table. To be honest, I hoped that was it, because I can't really think of any other cause.

It could indeed be that you have an app, normal- or background-, that somehow interrupts the proces. You would have to check using Activity Monitor if there are (faceless background-) apps doing this. If they are, I would expect then to "tap into" coreaudio in some way, so music or video playing apps are the prime suspects. Try to find any that are running, and disable or quit them, see if that improves things. You may even have to uninstall things- some audio (helper) apps install system components (extensions) that can derail coreaudio even if the apps that use them are not running.

Another thing to investigate is Bluetooth and/or Wifi. Try bouncing with both turned off.

O, and I also just remember that the iCloud drive can sometimes interrupt certain Logic processes. So also try disabling that.
