Slow Graphics Performance MacOS High Sierra

and how are the suggested downloadable NVIDIA drivers working for you?

Temporary "fix" didn't work in my case. Good suggestion though, and I hope it provides some relief for others. Considering painful downgrade to Sierra. Hello everyone.

Well, I upgraded to macOS 10.13.1, installed nVidia drivers, but system was still slow. So I had to restore my Time Machine backup to Sierra.

There is new macOS 10.13.3 beta. Can some adventurer test it? 🙂

Nvidia 750M is still slow. According to Geekbench, Iris is outperforming the nvidia 750M in openCL and metal scores. i am using the latest driver from nvidia 378.10.10.10.25.102.

No improvement concerning my dropped frame issue in FinalCutPro X 10.4 and AVCHD material

on my MacPro 6.1 6 core.

Tried with external SSD and 10.13.3

So I still have to run 10.12.6 on internal SSD

If you use your Macbook professionally I would really advice to stick to Sierra at this point.

To add insult to injury, Apple sends me constant reminders to upgrade to "High Sierra", haha.

I am curious. Did you try 10.13.4 Beta (17E170c) like brendymullan?

(Unfortunately I cannot upgrade to beta versions as my MPB is a company machine.)

I've tried the 10.13.4.beta5 (17E182a) with 161 nvidia driver it is better the 10.13.3 but still far away from my Intel HD 4000 ... which is sad but at least we can see the improvement.

There so many users that don't have this issue after upgrading to HighSierra....

But for you probably not an issue of MacOs anymore but the chance is that is is an hardware issue.

There is a possibility to "program" that only the built-in (onboard) GPU is used from startup of the mac and the discrete not at all. Which is of course not ideal when you use software that runs better when using the discrete GPU....

I doubt that the issue can be evaded by not going to APFS (the filesystem has nothing to do with the GPU).

And I think that the way to avoid the apfs conversion (a simple instruction to the installer, when starting the installer from Terminal) will survive the next updates, but I am not Apple. I don't know why they force apfs so much. Although apfs as a file system is much more modern and safer than HFS+, it still has some quirks. Personally I am not interested how my data are written as long as there is no file corruption possible. And when you have more partitions on one SSD, it can't even tell you the free space on one of them, just the total on all three together.
