ios 11.1 battery drain

Like most, I was suffering from a huge battery drain since I have upgraded to ios 11.

I have waited for ios 11.1 as everyone was mentioning that it will fix the battery issue. I have upgraded to ios 11.1 two days ago but now I feel that my battery is draining even faster. I can see the battery percentage dropping 2 points every 2 to 3 minutes of usage.

A fully charged iPhone 6s running ios10 used to last me a full day. Now I need to recharge 2 to 3 times per day for the same workload.

Hi Wazicop,

Like many iPhone users, you are suffering the same as them because Apple have sent a letter out to their Apple websites saying that they will be slowing down iPhones 6s Plus and lower because of old batteries. They say that you can get a new battery for a way cheaper price, like for $29 instead of like $100. Your problem sits perfectly in line with the letter, so if I were you, I’d get a new battery.

They have to be aware of it! There are thousands of users complaining. What is annoying is when you contact Apple Support they act like you are the only user with the problem and take steps to restore your device, etc. A simple acknowledgment of "hey we messed up we're working on it" would be nice. The Google Pixel is starting to look tempting.

I noticed something weird last night. After dinner, I walked about 20 minutes with my girlfriend to an appointment. While she was inside, I waited out in the waiting area and read Facebook, some web sites, etc.

My battery was at 17%, so I activated low power mode. It remained at 17% charge for the entire duration of her appointment, about 20-30 minutes. I was using LTE data. Bluetooth and WiFi were both on.

Then we walked home, about 20 minutes. Walked in the house and looked at my phone, and the battery was at 2%. On a 20 minute walk, my battery lost 15% of its charge. Crazy.

I’ve noticed on days where I’m travelling a lot, either on train or subway, that my battery does not last as well as on days where I’m more stationary.

Could iOS 11 maybe be consuming more energy when handing off to different cell towers, or trying to connect to every WiFi hotspot within range?

I’m running iOS 11.1 on an iPhone SE that’s about 9 months old.

I have updated to version 11.2 the moment it was released. There is no change in my battery performance. Sometimes it dies and when it comes back on after plugging in to charge it will show a few percent of battery life and sometimes it will die around 60%. In fact over the past few days its slowly getting worse. I don't believe Apple even gives a crap because when you look at what's released in the new version again all they seem to care most about are their new features. They're not even honest and transparent about the battery issue. What a joke! I would say rather than to continue to voice my opinion in the apple communities where many people are experiencing the problems I am it may be best to go on Facebook instead with my grievances. This way if someone is thinking of purchasing an iPhone for the holidays I will let them know the troubles I am having so they can make an informed decision.

I agree. I also downloaded 11.2 the minute it came out, as this whole battery life issue is driving me insane, and the battery is still draining the same or even worse than 11.1.2

I use my phone a ton for work so you can imagine the frustration!

When is Apple going to acknowledge the fact and fix it?

iOS 11 has been a complete disaster. Horrible experience...

Time to report it to the newspapers, apple have had there chance! Feel sorry for anybody who gets an iPhone for xmas!

My whole workforce was almost crippled overnight by the update. Battery drain even when no apps open and phone locked. When using sat nav, it gets very hot too. Never used to do this and they are less than 6 months old. 6s and 7 are broke now. Also notice lots of bugs happening suddenly. Cannot turn call volume up or down.

11.2 has nothing to do with battery. Most reports say it make it worse. IphonevX still full of bugs too.

Google phone looks good!!!!

No class action is possible because when we click to update our iPhone we accept all the risks. That's why Apple suggest, strongly, to back up just in case. As consumers, as customers of Apple we can only change brand of our smartphone.

PS j'd like to reply to the ones that suggest to replace the battery. May j point you out that some issue about drainage of battery happen also to somebody that just bought an iPhone? my son, i.e., 2 months old iPhone SE

They keep saying the same stock stuff. It's your battery (never mind some users replaced their battery and still had the same drain issue.) There are reports all over the web and in their own forum? Yet they claim there is no problem. With this new battery replacement due to Apple being caught with the slowdown of older phones, once the battery gets old would you not have the same issue? How about taking the software and redesign it so it don't drain or slow down our phones????
