iPhone X Email Notifications Cleared from Lock Screen When Unlocked

This problem was supposedly fixed in 11.2.5. But I can also confirm that it is not fixed in 11.3 public beta. ***, Apple?? The next developer beta was released this week with the public beta to follow soon. Maybe THAT fixes it...? 😟

I am having the same behavior. Exchange messages are automatically cleared on unlock, but GMail messages behave as desired.

I also have this problem but just with my IBM Domino Traveler account. Gmail accounts seem to work just fine, which is completely baffling. Apple tech support doesn't have a clue.

What kind of mail accounts are other people having trouble with?

I chatted with a couple of completely useless techs, then talked to one who I finally was able to convince to escalate to engineering. I haven't heard back from anyone though. And it is super annoying. Really hurting my productivity.

When I swipe up I get a bunch of old notifications but the mail messages are usually kind of flashing/flickering. It's weird.

What mail server are you using that is causing the trouble?

Yes, default Mail app and I’m basically using an Exchange server account. That’s a good sign - some consistency with our problems at least, so it should get some attention, hopefully soon. There are a lot of Exchange servers out there.

Yeah I don't recall if it worked correctly or not when I first got the phone on Friday and started playing with it. It took me a while to realize something was wrong.

I talked to Apple tech support again this morning and they confirmed that it was passed on to engineering. They're supposed to call me back tomorrow with an update. I'll post here when they do.

I got a call back from the tech rep today. The engineer wanted to know if I had notifications turned on. Sigh... this is gonna take a while. I tried to be crystal clear with exactly what is going on but they apparently don’t get it yet. If I could email them I’d send a video of the problem.

I have the same problem with exchange emails from Mail app. New mail notifications will disappear from lock screen as soon as Face ID unlocks.

Glad to find this thread and saw others having the same issue. I hope Apple sees this and fix it asap.

Wait, that's interesting, bss8. Did yours used to work then suddenly stop working?

Still no word back from my Apple tech rep but I'm fairly confident that the engineers are aware of the issue now and will be working on it.

It’s definitly a bug but this is a better workaround than dealing with the disappearing notifications. Especially since I read them right away anyway. I wouldn’t see them in any history. Actually I’m not even sure what that setting does but I don’t really care.

I am an also having this issue — Email notification s from Exchange account auto-clear from lock screen as soon as Face ID sees me trying to read them. Adjusting the setting to remove them from the history log avoids the issue, but obviously removes functionality (as they no longer appear I history as I would like). This is clearly a bug.

Needless to say I am having the exact same problem. I even tried resetting my phone as a new device, but i still get the same result.

For me it is also happening with imessages. Emails I receive through the Outlook app don't disappear, and neither do the whatsapp notifications.

I don't get it...

“Show on Lock Screen” is enabled on my phone, and has been, but the problem persists for me. If it were disabled, then the messages wouldn’t appear at all in the lock screen, as opposed to most people’s problem, where the emails appear in the lock screen but disappear as soon as the phone unlocks, while all the other notifications remain in place.

It’s crazy that a big problem with probably the most popular mail server out there (Exchange) has gone on so long. I opened a tech support issue with Apple but they eventually blew me off with no resolution. I opened a Radar bug report but they closed it as a duplicate. I have no idea if the dup is still open.

I have to believe that Apple will fix this eventually but it’s annoying as **** and I’m missing messages because of it. None of the workarounds work well enough for me (turning off history messes with my Pebble watch notifications.)

iOS 11.2 was just released and even mentioned Exchange account bugs that were fixed. But not this one. Now I'm really p!ssed. This is really impacting my use and enjoyment of my X and Apple is totally blowing off this major bug. WtheF?
