I had the same issue with crashing messaging app, tried every tip without success. But now I got it working without resetting the phone.. All i did was scrolling down on the main screen, bringing up the search bar. Then typed the name of a person I resently messaged, followed by selecting the search result. Voila, successfully working message app!
Figured this out by my self this morning. Seemed to work as of now. my message app kept crashing too. Test one when you get a new text and shows in notificationS, you can reply from there works. I was in slickdeals app and wanted to share a deal through message app and bam the message app opened with out closing. So try finding a app with share button, select message, and then now my message app works going direct to it. Even after force closing.
It try’s to open the message app and then just crashes. So for now I just restored it as a new phone and am adding all my apps and so on manually. At least the message app has no issues this way lol.
The sharing from another app to open up messages didn’t end up working for me and I ended up trying numerous apps
Did you go through fully with it? Did it at let your message app stay open for the share?
Reset all settings worked for me - better than setting up as a new phone in my opinion if it works for you, this way I got to keep the restored notes, calendar, contacts, messages etc
