iPhone X camera not full screen
Hi all.
Does anyone know how to make the camera and photos full screen like in the adverts? Mine has black bars and may as well be an iPhone 6.

Hi all.

It really throws the whole purpose of the iPhone X "full screen" I'm actually disappointed because in that case I could've stayed with my plus to have an actual "full screen". I don't like seeing the thick bars on the bottom of the screen when opening an app.

Where did you purchase your phone? If you bought it from Apple and you've had it a few weeks, the return period was 14 days.
Yes but it’s making out it’s filming that street scene. Plus I’ve seen other images online of people taking selfies in full screen and they’re photos taken with people testing them at the launch.
Just seems like this big screen is wasted in so many ways. Including the enormous grey bar below the keyboard.
It makes no sense does it? If snapchat can be full screen, why can’t the native camera app be too?
Maybe in an update.
Yes that’s very annoying
Me too. I wish I'd stayed with my 7 plus now :-(
Hopefully. It’s possible in a update but unlikely. It’s not like they didn’t notice it as they were making it yano. It’s possible it was done intentionally. I’m sure for enough ppl ***** it’ll catch their attention.
I agree Nan_z1. I still have a 6s Plus (and am a photographer using a DSLR a lot, but have used Iphone quite a bit too). Its very disappointing to me—I went by Best Buy today to particularly check out how the X handled photos. In truth, I generally view photos on a 12.9 Ipad Pro—but have a hard time paying over $1000 (I would buy the 256) if photo viewing isn’t better—tho I realize the camera is. I love the size, the screen, the gestures instead of home button—might even like face ID LOL but the Photo app puts me off. I didn’t check other native apps but suspect if I bought right now, I’d buy the 8Plus—and go the X route (whatever it will be called) the next upgrade—when they hopefully improve some of the display issues. And—might not even upgrade until next phone model anyhow.
I totally understand! I've had my iPhone X now for a few weeks. I'm so mad at myself for selling my iPhone 7 Plus. The screen felt so much bigger than this narrow tall phone that crops the sides off of everything. It's pointless to have this screen if it's not all being used. Especially when taking pictures. The picture shows up a smaller size with black bars on the sides. I might as well have an small iPhone 6 or 7. Ugh. Think I'm taking this phone back and getting the 8 Plus.
Camera takes pictures in 4:3 aspect ratio, that is the standard for photos. To view the pictures full screen in either Camera Roll or Photos app, double-tap on the Image.
Double tapping zooms in it doesn’t make it full screen. And I’m having the same issue. But apps like Snapchat use the entire screen so it makes no sense. So dumb.
Try this app:

It takes beautiful full screen photos on any iPhone.
See some examples:
Then the image on this link is fake? The one filming the street.

That image could easily be screen saver image, which is full screen for sure.
Whenever they show the Camera on the phone, it’s a “small” screen with controls on the edges. Every time the image (or video) fills the entire screen, it’s during playback, as explained above.
