How to use iPhone x lock screen flashlight and camera?

Hi,

I have a dumb question. I try to access flashlight and camera via the lock screen on the iPhone x. How would I use those two features? I look at the screen and it automatically unlocks but I can't open neither apps. I tried pressing it, double tapping it, press and holding, swiping it in all directions, but none of them work. Is there some sort of lock function that I need to grant access or is it only usable in emergency situations? I'd appreciate it if anyone can explain this to me. Thanks.

If you have an iPhone X while the phone is off, tap the screen to turn the locked screen on, and all you do is touch the flashlight button or the camera button and then push it, then increase your pressure just as you were pushing a button/switch on. You will feel it click on.

With the flashlight you can actually push/click the button on and then off. It’s very cool and you can feel the clicking under your finger just like a mechanical button.
