I just rebooted my phone, and now it’s working. I’ll repost if the problem reappears. Looks like an iOS11 bug. Saw some iPhone 8 users have the same issue, but a reboot seems to be the fix.
I just tapped my screen to get it to turn on, but didn’t unlock it. Now it’s stuck on. A member at macrumors replied he had this issue, and rebooted his phone. He said that seemed to fix it. I’ll give it a try
You can swipe left or right on the notification to take action without opening/unlocking the phone.
I’m not sure you read my post. I’m not asking how to respond to notifications, I am saying that when I receive them, the lock screen stays on. When I woke up this morning my phone was at 25% even though it was on the charger all night. I don’t even know what kind of burn in this will cause.
I read your post. If you would have mentioned that it was during the night while you slept then I would have suggested that you use do not disturb during the hours you do not want the screen to activate. Please in the future provide ALL of the information so that the people who are voluntarily helping you do not waste their time.
This guy doesnt understand your issue. I have the same thing. My phone is sitting on the table, and a notification comes in, and the lock screen stays on until I hit the side button. I’ve been seeing this issue, and I suspect it’s a larger issue that folks haven’t noticed yet. I think it has something to do with the new face camera thinking it’s seeing you and trying to lock onto your face. I‘m just guessing, but it’s a huge problem.
Never assume I do not understand something. And never ever comment in a derogatory way towards another user. I give answers based on the information given.
You want the screen to go off and I how to make that happen.
I stated in the original post that it happens EVERY TIME I get a notification. I gave the information, it seems you glanced over it. If you don’t have an iPhone X, I don’t think you can contribute to this discussion.
You don’t understand, because he wasn’t asking how to turn off the screen, he was asking why the screen didn’t turn off automatically. This issue is the screen turns on in response to a notification. after a moment, it should turn itself off if the user doesn’t touch the phone. My display stayed on for over 4hours until I hit the side button. If the phone is sitting idle with no user interaction, then the screen should turn off after a set time out. This isn’t happening. Has nothing to do with DND.
Yes, this is exactly what is happening to me. I tried to turn off all the facial awareness settings but nothing seems to work. Hopefully this gets fixed soon because it’s really draining my battery throughout the day.
It appears to be working for me as well. I’ll report back after some time to test.
