iPhone X VOIP calls failing

Hello,

Since I got my iPhone X, Voice and Video calls over Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp have been failing. I try over and over again and they continue to fail. I then immediately use my old iPhone 7 Plus and make the same call and it works.


Device: iPhone X

iOS: 11.1

Apps: Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp (both updated to the latest versions)


Calls failing on iPhone X and still working on iPhone 7 Plus (both phones have the same iOS and the latest versions of the apps).


I tried deleting the apps and re-installing, I tried restarting the phone, even hard restarting. No luck.


Any help ?

I deleted all VOIP apps including messenger and whatsapp and viber. Then reinstalled them again. Didnt work...

Tried restarting and hard restarting the phone

Didnt work...

Then finally tried resetting all settings ... WORKED!

My content all stayed. But you have to set everything again in regards to notifications and face ID and privacy ... etc!


THE SOLUTION IS TO RESET ALL SETTINGS (for a reason that I dont understand)

I had the same issue and was on a call with Apple support to try and resolve. I tried the same things mentioned above and they were all guesses from Apple support. However, using the “Reset All Settings” did the trick for me as well and resolved the issue. My VoIP calls with WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are now working on my iPhone X after applying Reset All Settings.

go to the iPhone settings, down to general and then enter general, scroll down to reset and then enter reset. Choose reset all settings. This is the first option that you will see at the top of the list of resets. Enter the pass code for your iPhone.


Note carefully the statement " this will reset all settings and your Apple pay cards will be removed. No data or media will be deleted". if you are willing to proceed then press " Reset All Settings" which Is displayed in red.


I did this and it has worked very well for me. However I have nearly 200 apps and I had a lot of settings to re-store which took about three hours.


Some people have suggested that this reset cure is not permanent. All I can say is that I did this about four or five days ago and all of my VoIP functions are still working fine.

Hi,

I was having the same issue and reinstalling the whatsapp didnt work


Reading more blogs I found this solutions and it worked:

Turn off hearing aid setting:

Please try to turn off hearing aid compatibility as this seems to interrupt VOIP calling.

Go to General->accessibility->turn off hearing aid compatibility. This should get the issue fixed.
