Early Cancellation of iPhone Upgrade Program

So I made the mistake of signing up for the iPhone Upgrade Program (UK) with an iPhone 8 Plus and now I'm eyeing the iPhone X greedily. It's been past the normal 14 day return policy and the T&Cs of the Upgrade Program don't make it utterly clear what options I've got after this period.

I've read through both the T&Cs and the return policy but am still unsure what options I might have to get the iPhone X instead of my current iPhone 8 Plus.

Any tips?

If you are not eligible to upgrade and cannot return the device because it is too late, there is no way to get the iPhone X through these means.

You could pay off the balance on the phone, sell it and use the proceeds to fund part of the cost of the iPhone X.

The Apple Store might have other options to suggest.
