Messages says I have one but nothing is there???

My messages indicate I have “1” but when I open messages, nothing is there. I can’t get rid of the “1” or find the message. Any ideas?

I too have this problem on my brand new iPad Mini 4. I have tried every suggestion I have found online, including this one. It did fix my issue. The 1 is still there and I have deleted at Text Messages. I am synced with a Mac Desktop and an iPhone.

I see that you have a Badge App Icon on Messages showing that you have one unread message. When you look, there's no new message found but the icon still shows one unread. I'm happy to help.

Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch -- First, turn off notifications for Messages by going to Settings > Notifications > Messages

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Then, force close the Messages application if it's open, and -- Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Once it's returned to the Home screen, go back to Settings > Notifications > Messages and turn it on again. Has the Badge App Icon cleared?

Let me know how that goes.

Take care!
