Both USB ports on my MacBook Air suddenly stopped working. I've tried both fixes I found online--resetting the PRAM and resetting the SMC but neither worked. I'm not using cheap cables or anything else like that. What other options do you suggest?

Try Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support once in safe mode try a usb device see if the issue still happens. If the issue doesn't occur try restarting the computer and see if the issue reproduces.
