No notifications from one contact

have just one contact that seems to be muted, I don’t received any sounds or notifications when I receive a message from them. My IOS is up to date and I have this years iPad. Hide Alerts is turned off on their conversation. They have a sound allocated to them under contacts (and I have changed to a different sound with no effect). They are not blocked. Do not Disturb is not on. I have restarted messages and restarted the iPad. Bluetooth is turned off. I receive notifications from other contacts. Any thoughts on how I restore notifications and sounds for this one contact for when I receive a message from them? Thanks

Hi TheMenace64,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Community. I understand that your message notifications from a specific contact are not making any sound on your iPad. I'm happy to help.

You've already tried some great steps by checking the settings and restarting the Messages app and iPad. Since you're still not hearing the sound, I would like you to reinstall iOS on your iPad. This should not affect any of your data, but it is always a best practice to make sure you have a current backup in either iTunes or iCloud. How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Once you have a current backup, follow the steps in the section titled "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up" from the following article. These steps will reinstall iOS. Keep in mind that these steps were written for a different issue, but they will still help us isolate the situation further. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen

Best regards.
