on pages the keyboard is not responsive

What type of document?
Do you see the insertion point? ( | )
Is there text in the document? Can you select it?
Your profile information (bottom of your post) shows "Mac OS X(10.1.x)"; the body of the post shows "macOS.11" (which is non-existent) and Pages 6.3.1. What versions of the OS and Pages are you actually using?
