Alarm doesn’t ring when on vibrate

My alarm no longer rings. I’ve always had my phone on the vibrate /silent mode. And my alarm has always rung. Now it just vibrates and doesn’t wake me up. If you turn the phone to non vibrate mode it rings. Why can my alarm not work on silent mode any longer. Recent update to 11.0.2

Hey Cab212,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I can see from your post that you're unable to hear alerts when your device is on silent since the update to iOS 11.0.2. I certainly know how important these alerts can be even when on silent and want to help with this as best as I can. Were these alarms created before you updated? What happens if you create new alerts? Are you able to hear them on silent? It also looks like you're on an older version of iOS. The latest release is iOS 11.1.1 which may help with this.
