I received the update notice for 3.1.1.505.pkg. My security setting is to only open apps from Apple or identified developers and this app is blocked. I have not seen this from previous updates from Malwarebytes. I recently changed my router. Would that cause this update to be blocked?

If you want to open it just Control-click on it and you should get a dialogue saying it is unidentified etc, but gives you the option to open it, it will only do this once, next time you go to open it it will open in the normal fashion.
The router is probably not responsible for this.
You don't tell us what actions that you are taking - step by step tells us where to look for this message.

I just checked the most recent MalwareBytes download and it is properly signed. Changing your router shouldn't make a difference, but there is no way to say for sure.
Maybe try restarting your machine.
Apple recommends it as a solution to remove malware and annoying pop ups installed accidentally by the user.
Thanks to all responding. Running El Capitan. I did restart and all is well.
Is Malwarebytes an identified app developer?
