Hello db2tech!

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities! I see from your post that you want to remove a phone number from your iPad so that you can stop receiving extra text messages. I can definitely understand how that can become a bother over time and I'm sure I can provide you with the guidance you need.

To remove a number that can be used to reach you using Messages, follow the steps in this article called Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime , specifically these steps:

Turn your phone number on or off for your iPad or iPod touch

After you set up your phone number, you can turn it on or off for Messages and FaceTime on your iPad or iPod touch.

  1. For Messages, go to Settings > Messages and make sure that iMessage is on. If asked, sign in with the Apple ID you're using with Messages and FaceTime on your iPhone. Then tap Send & Receive.
  2. For FaceTime, go to Settings > FaceTime. If asked, sign in with the Apple ID you're using with Messages and FaceTime on your iPhone.
  3. Turn your phone number on or off:

Text messages that you send and receive on your iPhone can also be made to appear on your Mac, iPad, and iPod touch.Learn more.

I hope this information helps you!

Kindest Regards
