Apple TV 4K freezes or screen goes black when trying to stream video

I have just got the new Apple TV 4K and it works totally fine until I try to stream video from iTunes or Netflix, then the image freezes or screen goes black and sound continues. My tv is 4K and Wifi is definitely fast enough for streaming. Could it be the hdmi cable? Any ideas?

I’ve tried a few different cords and different ports on the tv but I’m not too sure if the hdmi cables are high speed, they’re a few years old. The problem seems to only occur when streaming the higher quality videos, when streaming tv it works fine- thanks for your help!
