SMS two step verification is not working

Hi there,

I have a Windows notebook and I am trying to connect to my icloud email account. Since iCloud and Mozilla Thunderbird are not working together I am trying to connect using my Opera browser. All is fine until I am supposed to receive a SMS with a confirmation code. Guess what. After waiting 11 hours I have still not received a SMS with a confirmation code from Apple or from iCloud.

Does my phone work? Yes. Adobe also has this option and it works, from time to time, but at least they have the decency to offer to send the code via email. Which Apple does not have.

Also today I paid my monthly subscription for some applications and I bought something via internet and my card has a 3D secure authorization code also sent by SMS on my phone. Lucky me I did not have to wait 11 hours.

Please advise.

Hi,

Thank you all. Yes, I did completed setting 2 step verification. I need it in order to set my email client on Android to work with iCloud. I was talking about checking my email using a browser. When I enter into icloud after I enter the password I am asked for a code which is supposed to be sent to my phone.

Not only that Apple or iCloud is failling to send the code but sometimes it took hours to receive the SMS. Which is too late for me.

Since I wrote on this chat I did nothing to check my emails. I simply consider iCloud email very useless since 2SV.

Today, when I tried again, I received the SMS but minutes after I asked for them and each time the session has expired. So, each time I asked for a SMS I received it later whne the session also expired. An do on. It is like a loop. I ask for a code, minutes later I receive one just to discover that is useless as the session is expired and I need a new one.

Shall I continue. It simply *****.

And finally, the most mind blowing message I get from iCloud or Apple: Two many verifications code.....

Really?

Is it possible that the verification code is being sent to another device you are not aware of? See the "Keep your trusted phone numbers up to date" and "View and manage your trusted devices" sections in:

Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support

Also be aware that there is two-factor authentication and two-step verification and that they are two different things:

You do not need a verification code to use iCloud email on your Windows device.

You need an app specific password which requires 2SV to be enabled on your Apple ID.

Once set up, and you do not need an Apple device to do so, you manage app specific passwords online at appleid.apple.com.

Have you completed setting up 2 Step Verification yet, or is that what you're having issues with now?
