font folders in pages

I'm forced to make the switch from Pages 09 to the new Pages. My installed old version of Pages 09 won't work with my High Sierra, I've done everything and spent hours on the phone with Apple. So I'm switching. I'll say up front I hate it.

One thing I'm really having issues with is that I have thousands of fonts installed on my iMac. In the old pages when I clicked the fonts tab I'd see the folders I have made to sort out my fonts. I've been really specific with those folders: chalk fonts, typewriter fonts, girly fonts, etc. I do a lot of social media for clients and it's so much faster to have them all sorted.

In the new Pages I don't see those folders, I do see a display of what the font looks like in the dropdown but that's not really helpful when you have 5,000 fonts to scroll thru. Is there any way to see those font folders that I was able to see in Pages 09 and that I can see if I open Font Book?

I've included a screenshot to show what I mean.

Pages '09 v4.3 should still work in High Sierra, Apple is usually quite ignorant on such matters so I wouldn't trust what they say. I doubt they use their own software.

In Pages 6.3.1:

Menu > Format > Font > Show Fonts or command t

With collections in the left column the same as in Pages '09. It was never anywhere else to my knowledge.

My hero! That worked perfectly, thank you very much.

I'm sure you know those support people on the phone are workers in their homes. I'm not sure they are even Mac users because one told me that the same thing happens on her PC!!!!

I was moved up the food chain many times and eventually got a real Apple person who did know what he was talking about. After about 2 hours we did get Pages 09 limping along, but there are still functions in it that don't work correctly.

I can't get Photoshop to open at all and I was told to install some legacy version of Java but decided that now was a good time to learn Affinity Photo which is similar to Photoshop in many ways. I read about some people online that had other issues with that legacy java with other applications. So I'm trying to learn new stuff. UGH.

I use to LOVE Apple. Now I like them a lot. :-/

The AppleCare people are simply reading from a manual of set responses.

Pages '09 works but does have a few issues. Every System upgrade there is another thing knocked off.

You are probably still using Photoshop CS5 or 6. Adobe's software does require Javascript for Batching, Help and a few other things the whole CS suite uses.

I am steering off High Sierra, there is nothing compelling in the upgrade but it is slow and introduces problems I don't need. I tend to miss Apple's intermediate upgrades, this one's biggest deal is the new APFS HD format which is going to become a huge barrier to users in coming years. Particularly with encryption which screams to me of future failure.

I wish I wouldn't have upgraded either, I was sick that day and hit the button without even thinking. Yes my Photoshop was CS5. I use it on and off all day long for work so it's a big lose for me and after years of using it I'm darn good with it. I'm mad at Adobe too, nothing they make is really intuitive for me and I hate the cloud thing. Whatever.

I'm using new stuff learning new things is good for your brain. 😉
