iMessage freezing when sending pictures

If a picture is selected then iMessaged and it hasn’t sent yet, then try to send more pictures to the same contact or group, my phone freezes and have to close iMessage and wait for first message to send before can send the next. This has happened at least half a dozen times. Also, with the new update my phone will randomly get stuck with the screen half down like it would if you tap the home button, but at times it wasn’t tapped and mostly happens on the lock screen. Have an iPhone 7 and the most recent update. Wish it was possible to undo the update! And sad it didn’t work good on a phone only a year old.

Hi, Krosen1210,
From your post, I understand that you are having trouble sending pictures via iMessage. Specifically, when you send one iMessage, you are unable to send another until the first one is finished sending. If you try to send additional pictures, your Messages app becomes unresponsive. Additionally, you’ve noticed another situation where the display will pop down halfway (Reachability) without prompt. I’m happy to help!
The first recommendation I have, if you have not already, is to force close the Messages app: How to force an app to quit - Apple Support. Then, restart your iPhone: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. This restart will address both iMessage and Reachability
If you have completed these two steps, in this order, and the issue with iMessage continues, the next step would be to check your connected network. If it’s private Wi-Fi, like at your house, reset the router if you’re able. This typically can be done by unplugging the router from power for a few seconds, but some routers also have a reset button. Check with your user manual or the manufacturer for the specific instructions.
If you’re on public Wi-Fi (or are otherwise unable to reset the connected Wi-Fi network), or you are using cellular data, try switching networks. You can go from Wi-Fi to cellular data or vice versa, and also try another Wi-Fi network.

In regard to Reachability, you can turn the feature off if restarting the iPhone has not helped, and you decide you do not wish to use the feature under Settings > General > Accessibility > Reachability. Switch the toggle from the on (green) position to the off (grey) position by tapping it.
Should you need additional help after trying these steps, do not hesitate to respond back. If you do, please confirm the iOS version number running on your iPhone 7. You can get that under Settings > General > About > Version.
Cheers!

I bought a new iPhone 8 Plus and still have the same problem not being able to send a picture with the texting app or email. The app freezes up. Had a case with Apple for some time there two or three updates but didn’t fix it or there not addressing my issue.

To start off with they tried to feed me that line too. I gave them a screen recording and they took files from my phone. I just got a email from Apple they know they have a problem but don’t know when they’ll have a fix. I told them that we all spend our hard earned money on there phones. It’s there job to take care of our phones once we buy from them.

Apple has really done it to us this time this has been going since October 2017 I get the same response every time I get a email from them. I’m about to pay my phone out and go to Samsung note 8. I’ve had it with Apple. I’ve been with them since iPhone 3. Enough is enough.

Same problems- iPhone6 hangs when entering contact name in email or message. Found article to open Contacts, Groups, deselect all groups, close. That has helped but phone still hangs when opening some apps, all the time when sending photo via email or iMessage. SMS message works fine. It’s not my WiFi cellular or other recipient because I can use other WiFi cellular apps no problem and I am one of the recipients so I know I have iMessage set up

This is after upgrade to 11.2.5.

My wife's phone was a iphone 5s, hand a problem with the home button and the battery. I found a refurbished iphone 7 for half the price of a new one. It was in very good condition as far as you could see, but every time she tried to send a picture the darn thing would freeze and get hot. So, I sent it back for a refund, and bought a brand new one from Best Buy. Same problem! If it is a defect in the product then why is it happening to more than one version of the phone? I don't think it is a defect, I believe it is their operating system that has a bug. I really wish they would fix it. I was really considering making my next phone an iphone. Now I am having second thoughts. I have enough problems with the service on the one I am currently using without having trouble with the phone locking up and getting hot. You folks at Apple need to be on this like yesterday! :-(
