If the reboot is not helping then they haven't yet cleared the problem in your area. Just to clarify you are holding down the power button, sliding it to off, waiting for it to shut down then pressing the button and starting it again?
Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I had the same issue, also on AT&T. But oddly enough, my son and my hubby had no issues. Literally, in the car, my son's phone worked, but mine didn't. I rebooted and now it seems to be working again.
Restart your iPhone.
I have and it doesn’t fix it
AT&T?
Funny you should mention that. I, my wife, and mother, all on my AT&T plan, all had the same problem this evening. Rebooting fixed it. Undoubtedly a problem with AT&T's network.
Yep, all over Twitter and the outage report sites. If the situation has been resolved in an area a reboot will fix it.

Yes, AT&T. However, rebooting isn’t seeming to help. Cannot call Apple support or AT&T
After an update my phone did the same thing I turned my click off manual to automatic and it worked
Thank you for this link!
You are welcome, hope you are back running soon.
Resetting does not help me either. I’ve tried the basic on/off and a hard reset
Did you try turning Airport mode on and off?
Then give it some time and try again. This is a nationwide outage. Not all areas have been corrected yet. It's an AT&T issue. Not a problem with your phone.
Toggling on and off of airplane mode did finally do the trick. Thank you.
Interestingly, plenty of others on AT&T in my town never had an outage. Appreciate the help.
cannot make/ receive phone calls (call ending)
