MacBook Auto Restarting After Updating

My Mac has recently started restarting itself after automatically updating while I'm using it normally. It doesn't even wait until my computer is idle. This behavior is new. It used to ask me if I wanted to update and restart when new updates that would potentially restart your computer were available. How is this normal behavior?
