iTunes says there is not enough space to synch ... but

I am trying to Synch my recently purchased iPhone 7. I keep getting the message The iPhone cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the selected items (additional 2.76 GB required). Still the bottom bar in iTunes says there is 7.24 GB of free space, and all of the data is synching. I'm running iTunes 7.1.14 in IOS 10.11.6 Any help appreciated!

Nope, the phone says there are 4 GB's free. Honestly this makes no sense. I've also removed every photo and video, plus a few apps, and it has no affect. These are photos, videos, and apps that all easily fit on my 32 GB iPod touch. I just checked and removing a few large apps, all of my videos, and photos freed 'some' space. Whereas before I had 7.24 GB of free space, I now have 7.25 GB of free space. Since when does deleting several long videos, a thousand photos, and a GB of apps only free .01 GB of space?

I removed approximately 200 total songs, 5 apps, 1000 photos, & 3 videos of about 3 minutes a piece. All of these items easily fit on my 2nd generation 1Pod touch. I deleted them yesterday, so I don't remember there size exactly. Still just wt the music, 200 mp3's is about 700 megabytes, and iTunes says I've only gained 10 megabytes.
