orange square inside orange circle status for apple watch

I’m trying to update my watch on my phone and I have an orange square inside an orange circle as the status. What does this mean and how Can I get these apps to install onto Watch?

I have recently updated all for the last download. I have an Apple Watch series one and an iPhone 8.

Hi

You appear to be referring to the app installation progress indicator.

If you experience issues installing an app on your Apple Watch, follow the instructions, including here under the heading "If you can't install an app":

The icon sounds like the normal download progress indicator (think back to the iPhone app store - when downloading an app there, you see a similar icon, but in blue, the edge of which fills as the download and installation progresses).

My guess is that connectivity between devices or between the phone and the app store is failing/unreliable. It may be a transient issue and go away when you try a few hours later.

Ensure that the phone and watch are on the same wi-fi network and in good range of the access point, and that the phone and watch have bluetooth enabled and are within a meter or so of each other.
