I agree there is something wrong with the ATV4K but in the meant time I don't want to hear my daughter saying the T.V. is black every 5 minutes.
Hopefully Apple figures out something soon or this this is going back to the store.
**SOLUTION FOUND**
Hopefully this will work for everyone. I bought this HDMI 2.1 cable off Amazon ( Amazon.com: ECHOGEAR 4 ft Braided HDMI 2.1 Cable - 4k Compatible With Gold Plated Connections For the Best Picture - Sup… )
ECHOGEAR 4 ft Braided HDMI 2.1 Cable - 4k Compatible With Gold Plated Connections For the Best Picture - Supports HD, 4k, and Ethernet Signals With 120fps Refresh & 48gbps Bandwidth.
It has worked with no issues and I'm no longer experience any signal loss. Doing my research I found that HDMI 2.0b can't handle 4k TV's with 120hz native refresh along with Dolby Vision; too much bandwidth. Any HDMI 2.1 cable should work but if you are buying off Amazon, PLEASE read the reviews and descriptions first. There are some companies claiming their cable is HDMI 2.1 compatible and it isn't. The Echogear has worked for me with no problems for over a week. I'm running an LG 65" 8500 series TV with Dolby Vision.

Thanks for your comments, but as stated previously, the problem is just improved with the Echogear cable and not fixed completely. I still get drop outs with the echo gear cable, I still get drop outs when using a non ARC hdmi port. I still get drop outs when tinned lowwr resolutions. And what’s the point of ATV4K if you can only run 1080P at 30hz? Might as well just use the previous gen ATV for that.
Hi,
Is it still working for you? And I suppose you mean the Belkin HDMI cable they’re selling on the Apple website? We‘re using a Belkin High-Speed HDMI cable (not the same they have at the website now) on a LG OLED 55B7V, and it worked fine for 3-4 weeks and then the random HDMI signal loss started again (we got a new Apple TV 4K after the first one had terrible trouble with signal loss and lots of other errors). And now the signal loss happens frequently when using the device...
I guess my point of calling it a drawback is that we paid for the AppleTV 4k to be able to broadcast Dolby Vision 60Hz and it’s clearly not capable of doing so (which to your point my not be an issue today, but could become and issue in the future based on source material.)
Amazing how 4k worked fine with the amazon fire streamer and my LG TV, but I get dropouts (as well as everyone else but you on this thread) when watching AppleTV on 4K (especially with Netflix when it’s on the 60HZ setting).
Help me understand why 100’s of people who all have AppleTV and a LG set ups in this thread are getting dropouts while watching 4k material, and yet the problem ISN’T the AppleTV?
Firstly, you have no idea how many folks are suffering this issue; there are a handful only in this thread, however even if it's hundreds it's quite insignificant when correlated with the fact that there are millions of Apple TVs in use.
Secondly, NetFlix is lower quality than iTunes movies; this potentially means the bandwidth used by the HDMI connection could be lower (conjecture)
Finally and I'm repeating myself here, millions of Apple TV's including mine, don't have this problem
I have an LG.
You need to give it a rest, it's obvious where the issue isn't, but you believe whatever you want, however leaving to Apple to sort a problem that doesn't exist won't get you very far, good luck.
I have an LGB7 that was running a Roku Ultra and was getting signal losses with it. I'd turn the TV on and there would be no input from the device so I'd have to reset it. I switched to the Apple 4k TV and it's happened three times now where I'll lose signal and the screen will flash from black to static then lose signal completely needing a A4KTV restart to regain signal.
After having to pay a fortune to get this cable sent from the US (**** you amazon.com.au) it made no difference at all. I have tried taking my ATV 4K back to the store but they have refused to replace it!
Having only bought this a few weeks ago I have been suffering the same issue. I returned it today and got a new one. Out of the box it runs tvOS 11.2.6. I didn’t update the software and the problem still exists. Aaaaarrgggghhhh! Has anyone tried tvOS 12 beta? Does the problem still exist there?
My ATV 4K now refuses to output anything at all. Even my old standby of connecting it to my Sony HD TV has failed me. I finally cracked and called Apple. They methodically went through everything I'd already tried whilst I gritted my teeth. I nearly lost it when he told me to connect the ATV to my Mac via its service port GRRR. Then he tried Ethernet ***. When that didn't work duh I was told I'd need an HDMI to Ethernet cable. Just nip down to your local shop he says. Should only cost you $30. I said No. So now I have to waste an afternoon going to the local Apple store. Hay, the ATV 4K is a pos.
Also have the same problem. Seems to occur daily after I upgraded to the latest tvOS. Running an LG B7 with an audioquest pearl HDMI so there’s plenty of bandwidth. Seems to happen the most often on YouTube.
Yes - the problem is worst again with tvos12. It was manageable with the last iteration of 11 but still there. I have the LG C7 as well. Can't remember the HDMI cable I have but it passed the last test I ran.
Guess I might retort to you, Mr. Churchill, that you are the one affected by the issue, it is very much not an insignificant problem. The investment in a 65in LG OLED TV, high-end sound bar, brackets, in wall wiring, mounting, and ATV 4k is substantial. To then have to get up several times during a program to unplug and replug your HDMI cable into the ATV is pretty infuriating. That's why these threads exist: to help frustrated users hopefully share potential solutions. If you are unaffected, why bother reading this thread, much less taking the time to comment?
Hi Sam,
Essentially you’re sharing that the unsolved HDMI signal loss is expressed by:1. Disturbed video viewing2. Disturbed audio output to HDMI fed speakers
Would you venture a guess that the same disturbed audio would be present when Apple TV 4K is tuned to synchronized wireless (Bluetooth and WiFi) Bose SoundTouch version III speakers that are synchronized with each other; with devices within 5 meters’ line of sight of all devices?
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Thanks,Robert Sylianteng
