Guest network with Google Fiber???

Hi:

Just had Google Fiber installed and it is working great.

But I can't seem to find a way to enable a Guest Network for our home using Google Fiber. Maybe I missed this on the Google help pages, but they only seem to support Guest networks for their business customers.

However, I have an Airport Extreme that I used to use prior to Google Fiber. Details of the setup are listed here: Airport Extreme Networks Won't Go Away with Google Fiber

I thought I might be able to setup a wireless network using that that has a Guest Network enabled, but none of my devices seem to be able to log into it. The Airport Extreme seems to be sending out a signal for the primary and guest networks throughout the house, but when I grab a wireless device and log into the Guest network it never connects. No errors, just keeps trying to connect.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

You have another router.....the Google device......upstream on the network from the AirPort Extreme. That means that the AirPort Extreme must be configured to operate in Bridge Mode (Apple calls this "Off (Bridge Mode)" to function correctly.

Unfortunately, the Guest Network feature will not work correctly when the AirPort is set up in Bridge Mode. Catch 22.

If you need a guest network, use the Google wireless for your "main" network and the wireless provided by the AirPort Extreme as the guest network. Turn off the guest network setting on the AirPort, because it will not work.
