I thought the front facing camera is the dot to the left of the speaker? the dots I notice are Two additional dots above the speaker..

Proximity sensor and front facing camera.
The proximity sensor is used to detect when you hold the phone to your ear when on a phone call; the screen is then turned off to save battery and to prevent accidental activation of controls on the screen (e.g., turning on speakerphone, disconnecting call, etc.).
