Use of Verizon iPhone X with European SIM Card

I have an iPhone 6 Model A1549. Am considering buying an iPhone X and giving the 6 to my wife. Currently on ATT (GSM.) If I buy a Verizon iPhone X (CDMA) and pay out the phone cost over 24 months, can I use it with a European SIM card while paying out cost of the X? Can I use it with European SIM even if I pay off the X?

And, if so, will it have my contacts available? I would also want to transfer my iPhone 6 to Verizon for use in US only.

I've been getting conflicting info on this.

Verizon phones are unlocked so you will be able to use it with a European sim. The fact that you are paying over 24 months does not impact this.

You will be able to restore your contacts when you set up the iPhone X. Just back up your iPhone 6 first.

Then before giving it to your wife you should follow the tips in the link below.

There will be no problem transferring your iPhone 6 from AT&T to Verizon but you need to make sure AT&T performs a domestic sim unlock first assuming you are eligible for that carrier's policy.

The Verizon phone is both CDMA and GSM.

The iPhone 6 is already unlocked. I know the contacts will be transferred to the X when I have it set up. I just wonder if contacts will be available on the X when a European SIM is in place. And I was concerned re CDMA(Verizon)/GSM (Europe) incompatibility.
