How do I restrict #images in iMessage?

It used to be that #images could be restricted in iMessage if Restrictions were enabled in Preferences and "installing apps" turned off as in these steps:

Turn on parental controls for #images and other iMessage apps

To control access to #images and other iMessage apps, you can remove the apps from your app drawer and turn on Restrictions for downloading iMessage apps.

To remove an app from your app drawer:

  1. Open Messages, tap User uploaded file, and enter a contact or tap on an existing conversation.
  2. Tap User uploaded file, then tap User uploaded file in the lower-left corner.
  3. Swipe left over the app, then tap Delete.

To turn on Restrictions for iMessage apps:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Restrictions.
  2. Tap Enable Restrictions.
  3. Create a Restrictions passcode. You need your Restrictions passcode to change your settings or to turn off Restrictions.
  4. Turn off Installing Apps.

But, now this does not work. Does anyone know how to restrict #images in iMessage currently?

Thanks!

What happens when you try to turn on Parental Controls for #images?

...#images can easily be re-enabled inside of iMessages by tapping Edit at the top right and hitting the slider for #images. This is after turning off "install apps" inside of Restrictions in Settings.

Does it turn on, but not actually restrict?

...Turns on and does not restrict

Do you have trouble getting it to turn on?

...no

Are there any error messages?

...no
