iPhone 5s raised screen quiestion
Hi Everyone, just wondering if anyone would be able to help with my query.
I bought a second hand iPhone 5S on the iPhone 6 release day, it had been kept in a cover since new. Within a few months I noticed that the top left part of the screen (near volume controls) had started to lift a little, you could push it back down but it popped straight back again. This was also causing the screen to make a clicking noise.
I took it to apple, they said that the screen would eventually stop responding to any touch and that it would need replacing.
Fast forward to June this year...
It got so bad that the screen would lose brightness and response, to rectify this one would have to physically push the screen back down. As well as this, the front camera and ear proximity sensor had become useless (this happened quite some time ago) due to dust entering the phone.
I took it to apple, they sold me a remanufactured 5S as they believed it was due to battery issues (I went in for a battery test)
Within a few months of owning the new 5S I once again noticed that the screen had started to pop up in the exact same place, the clicking was there too. Due to a particularly nasty drop which removed any touch capability of the screen, I got it replaced. The screen is still ever so slightly raised in that spot and feels spongy. If you push it down whilst the screen is on, you can see it discolour slightly.
As this screen is brand new I can only assume that it’s related to the actual body of the phone? I’ve looked into it and it seems to either come down to
A. Battery
B. Screen losing its stick
C. Damage to body causing the screen to be pushed up
Is this correct?
I’m asking as I just want to understand why this spot on the 5/5S/SE is so prone to this issue?
I know SE users who have this too. The only people who haven’t experienced this have kept it in a case from day 1.
Any ideas anyone?
Disclaimer: my phones have been dropped a fair bit. I’m happy to accept that it’s my fault, I just don’t understand why the spot seems to be so specific!
Warm Regards,
Alex
