ios Ebay app bypassing face recognition

I enabled the iphone Ebay app to sign in with face recognition. After doing so and closing the app, I opened Ebay again. To my surprise the app opened without showing the FaceID window. I closed the app and reopened it again, this time pointing the iphone x away from my face. The app opened without any problem. I tried this several times and the results is always the same. Even though face recognition protection is enabled, the app opens without verifying my identity.

This is a major security flaw. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this issue. Apple needs to take down this app until this security issue is addressed.
