How to add a new email sound?
I want to add the old AOL "You've Got Mail" sound to the Email/Sounds folder.
Seems the latest OS does not like that?
Suggestions welcome.

Hold down the Option key and select Library from the Go menu in Finder. The Home folder Library is hidden by default.
If you don't have a Sounds folder in your Library, add it.
I have several in my user/Library/Sounds folder that I can choose from. They are .aif, .m4a, and .m4r files.
Once you add them, you have to quit Mail and re-open to make them available.
Search around the forums for people not hearing the sound. I vaguely think I remember seeing posts like that.
Mine does use the custom sound to announce new mail has arrived.
How interesting ! In my path of User/TomL/ there is no Library folder.
There is one the Mac HD/ but it has no Sounds folder.
I did locate a Sounds folder in Mac HD/System/Library/sounds. But am not allowed to place a sound file in that folder.
Also, there is no sound folder at Mac HD/Library.
Do you thinking of my Library's or Sound folder has been moved? Or needs to be moved?
Thanks
TomL
Did that . There was no Sounds folder. Added one along with the AOL ugotmail sound.
In Mail/preferences, I ca select a sound for new mail and then hear that sound.
But Mail does not announce any new mail with the selected sound. Any sound.
Have installed High Sierra 10.3.1 twice.
No idea which direction to go at this time.
Thanks for the assist !
I will do that , and thanks again for your excellent help !
