64 GB- is it enough

Hi, just bought a new Apple IPad Pro (10.5-inch) 64 GB. I did not have a whole lot of available money which is why I went with the 64 GB. Is this going to be enough for me or did I make a mistake of not going bigger? Please advise before it’s too late. Thanks people

Hi, thank you for responding. Having not ever owned a IPad before, I am not entirely sure just what I will be using it for. I am a photographer and use pro gear, so thought perhaps it might come in handy for that. But again, I know nothing about the iPad thus am at a loss as how to answer your question. I bought the 64 because money is tight and did not think I could afford on with the higher capacity, however, I am concerned that I may be making a huge mistake.

“Enough” storage space will vary tremendously from person to person and how they use their devices. I have an original 12.9” iPad Pro, 128Gb with less than 15Gb free. It’s replacement will definitely have whatever is the max. available storage when I buy next.

My suggestion with iPads or iPhones is to always buy the most storage your budget allows. You cannot add storage later, so whatever you buy, you‘re stuck with.

That said, if your budget only allowed for 64Gb and you find yourself tight on space, you may just need to be clever and curcumspect with what you keep on the device at any one time, and make more use of your computer storage, online storage and more frequent swapping of content as needed.

IPads, even the iPad Pro, are not a full blown laptop/desktop computer replacement.

These devices are still companion devices.

So, if your expecting an iPad to perform like a laptop or desktop computer, this will not be the same experience.

There is only external keyboard and stylus support under iOS.

NO trackpad/mouse support under iOS.

You need to use special external storage devices for iDevices as well rely on some limited “cloud” services support.

If you bought an iPad without identifying why you needed one, then you really do not know if you have purchased an iPad with enough storage for your needs or not.

I am an artist and drawing files can be large, so I purchased a 128 GBs model and this seems to be fine for me for the last 2 years.

I have 64 GBs iPads and my iPad 2 is getting full with only 17 GBs of free data storage space left.

My 128 GBs (effective storage 117-118 GBs) iPad Pro has about 35 GBs of free data storage space left, currently.

I own a 24” IMac that I do my editing on; I have the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom program on there that I use, however, it did occur to me, wondering as it were if I could use my iPad Pro with these same apps, but now realize it is not going to happen with only 64GB.

Apps on iOS are different from ones on the Mac.

So, you will need to budget for apps as most drawing and image/photo editing apps are paid apps.
