Hi, I'm currently using Early 2008 iMac which is on Maverick (OS X version 10.9.5) and I need to upgrade it to Yosemite. Is there anywhere (beside the apps store) that I can download the DMG file? Thanks.

Mavericks is no longer available in the AppStore. Your Mac is capable of running El Capitan and you should upgrade to that.

Do not trust other installers found on the internet, they may contain malware.
If you never downloaded Yosemite using your Apple ID, it is no longer available.
Check to make sure your applications are compatible.

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.
Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.

Hi guys, thanks for the advice. I have managed to upgrade from Maverick to El Capitan. My iMac is working fine, though slightly slow but I guess it should last for another 1 - 2 years.

For the slowness, since this post is marked as Solved, start a new post in El Capitan, and try running this program in your normal account, then copy and paste the output in a reply in the new post. The program was created by etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy Report” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.
