Admin vs Standard account for use on daily basis on macOS High Sierra

That recommendation hasn't changed.

Be sure to do the update for High Sierra that was just released to patch the root login issue.

It's a standard best practice. I don't know where one might find such a reference in Apple's documentation.

Your Mac can have multiple administrators. You can create new ones, and convert standard users to administrators .

The admin account has more privileges than standard account .

That's the claim - and IF you do use it in ADMIN account - Better to have a second never used just in case. Ive got 5, why, because of past problems... anyhoo. I'm always in an Admin account every day, all day, and I switch accounts to do things like back up iPhone, or Watch Video/Movies, etc.

My main user account has at finger tip ready access to many programs and files

, the other accounts do not and my dock and desktop are very minimal.

I don't particularly see a reason why to do what you say you do anyway, so I have no real recommendation as whether or not you should do it.

But since you insist you do, there's no real downside to doing it. Generally, computers have one admin and multiple standard accounts (if necessary) where those users use their standard accounts just fine for what they intend on doing. Just note, some things (like installing software) will require you to use the administrator password to do things and some programs may request an admin password to run certain parts of their program requiring more than just basic access (if somehow necessary) to your computer.
