After upgrade to High Sierra many of the application icons now look the same
Launch Terminal Triple click anywhere on the following line to copy entire line then at the prompt copy & paste this command: Then press return. Wait for the cursor to return to the command line.

I'm glad it's sorted. It may have been the combination of the command and the restart. You may need to do the same in your wife's account.
Draging it from applications into the dock didn't help
