I have a laser printer that no longer works with OS 10.12 and a new printer driver is not available. Knowing its IP address, I can get the printer to work over ethernet with a generic postscript driver but it only recognizes letter-size paper. Is there generic solution for larger paper sizes?

Been doing some research.
There is no GCC Elite XL 20/600 support in GutenPrint, Foomatic, HPIJS, or even Ghostscript 9.21. I also cross-checked with any of these aftermarket solutions supporting the Apple LaserWriter 8500 as I believe that was an OEM GCC Elite XL. Nothing there either. I have the LaserWriter 8500 v1.2 PPD, but not the corresponding LaserWriter 8 driver that uses it.
If you also have a spare Windows XP, 7, and possibly 10 networked machine, you might be able to install GCC support on that machine, and share that printer with Sierra via these Apple instructions.
Also, I wonder if when you are at the Sierra Print panel, if under Paper Size, do you have a selectable Manage Custom Sizes... menu entry, where you can create a custom Tabloid paper size that will then become available to you in subsequent print panels?
After calling up the Print window (command - P), if you click the paper size, do you get a dropdown menu where you can select the paper size and see if there is a borderless option?
GCC Elite XL 20/600.
GCC went out of business a few years back in spite of making great products. The beast is a work horse and perfectly good so I hate the idea of shelling out $2000 for a decent replacement.

I am able to add 11x17 to the Custom Size… approach but unfortunately it doesn't work. It says it's ledger size and shows as such in the print dialog, but the output is incorrect. The tabloid sheet feeds through but it only prints a portion of the image onto a section of the sheet that covers a letter sized area. I've tried every combination of portrait and landscape view with auto-rotate on and off.
Another older machine that I can dedicate to the printer and share with Sierra is a less-than-ideal option I'm looking into - just need to find one.
Thanks, but no that does not show up as an option. I do seem to have seen that option in one of the many Printer Software options I've tried when adding a printer via System Preference>Printers&Scanners. But like all those others, it generates no response from the printer.
