Would a GTX 1060 run on my mid-2010 MAC Pro?

Hey, I’m looking to upgrade my graphics card to work decently on boot camp and my Mac side. I was just wondering if it would be possible to upgrade my Radeon HD 5770 to a GTX 1060, my specs are - MacOS : Sierra - Processor- 2 x 2.66 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon - Memory - 32 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 - Thx for the help!

I think the 2010's PSU is 980W. NV recommends up to 600 so that covered. NV also says power is one 6 pin and one 8 pin

I have one under my desk but I'm not sticking my fingers in there to see if thats the case.

the adapters can be found if you need them

To supply power "according to the book" you should think of the slot as good for 75 watts, and each six-pin aux cable as good for 75 watts, for a total of 225 without doing anything heroic.

In theory, an 8-pin cable is good for 150 Watts, but that is because its wiring is heavier and the power supply is ready willing and able to send that much power to it.

Just splitting the 8-pin wiring and powering it with a six-pin cable is not a recipe for guaranteed success. You MAY get away with it, but if not, your graphics card will overdraw the power supply, causing it to suddenly power down under load.

The "approved method" for this case is to use a different source, such as a SATA connector and a stunt cable to pick up more power. If that does not work, an external power supply should be used to power the card.
