iTunes 12.7.2 CD Burning Issues

On my Windows 10 PC that hosts my primary iTunes music collection (70000+ songs) just completed the upgrade to the latest iTunes release (shows 12.7.2.58 as the version) via the Apple Software Update process.

After completing the upgrade I attempted to burn the playlists for 4 new classical albums (all MP3 downloads) to CD-R media. The CD burning process for all 4 albums failed with the following error message: "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred. (0x80004005)".

In each instance the albums played without issue when listening to them via iTunes (and my computer speakers).

Thinking that this may be an issue with iTunes 12.7.2 I logged on to another computer with an iTunes instance that had not been upgraded (the iTunes version on the other PC is 12.7.1.14). I copied the MP3 files for all 4 albums to that iTunes instance and then created playlists for each album. Was able to burn the playlists for all 4 albums to CD media with NO errors.

I will also note that with iTunes 12.7.2.58 I was able to burn one playlist to CD successfully but the burning process was painfully slow (4-5 times slower than normal).

Based on these results it appears to me that iTunes 12.7.2 has some significant bugs/issues relating to burning playlists to CD media.

Rolling back to iTunes 12.7.1.14 may be easier than transferring your playlists into Windows Media Player.

Uninstall iTunes then download and install one of the following as appropriate:

An alternative suggestion is to limit the burn speed to something slower than you would normally use.

Reports suggest Apple are aware of the issue but there is no ETA for a new build.

So, what you're saying is that the 12.7.3 update isn't really a full resolution to returning iTunes back to its original and unobstructed state. I am comfortable with the results that are being achieved as offered by pre-fix recommendations that you have offered during this interim period up until now and I don't see a need to load 12.7.3 unless it the final fix update to bring us back to full normalcy. But, thanks anyway.

If you are now back to perfect order of operation and seemingly free of the recent flawed update then stay as you are since iTunes 12.7.3 is only a temporary fix and it has not yet proved to be satisfactorily working for all users. Until a high majority of complainant iTunes subscribers who are gathered together in this community forum unanimously assert that a further remedial update appears to be totally foolproof, I for one, will not be at rest of assurance that it is official.

Wow, they're still making that claim? As TuringTest2 pointed out last week, you're not going to have a problem with burning CDs if you never burn CDs! I feel quite sure that those of us who do have ALL run into this problem, especially with the previous version. You may be right that in the current version, people may be having different issues depending on the computer they are using. For myself, the only remaining issue is that I still can't burn the correct playlist from the file drop down; I have to right-click on the playlist from the list on the left hand side. Other than that, everything is working again.

I have just burned a CD with iTunes 12.7.3.46 for Windows at 4x speed.

Whilst all the songs in my playlist have now been burned correctly and in the correct order, upon playback, I notice that all the CD info is jumbled, or rather the tracks have the artist from the next track but one (ie, Song 1 with Artist 3, Song 2 with Artist 4, etc)!

Has anyone else experienced this particular error?
