I have looked at the forums with several similar questions. Couldn't find an answer. I have used garage band for years and have never had this happen. I'm using Garage Band 10.2.0 I have a simple track with vocal and piano. At measure 86 or so the piano part volumne just drops suddenly! Any ideas? Using 10.13.2

is that one track the only one affected?
is it possible there's an automation curve on the Master track? there's a Fade Out menuItem under the Mix menu that brings the volume to zero on the Master, but that would affect all tracks.

ok, there's one other spot i can think of where the volume can be changed.
in the editor pane open up the Midi Draw panel and select the Volume menuItem in the popUp menu, see if there are any automation points there:

OK, no change BUT is sounds like it's getting gradually softer likes it is fading.

i still don't have a solution, but now we know that it's something embedded in the MIDI information; it's information in the region itself .
take another look at the MIDI Draw panel, check all of the menuItems in the popUp menu, not just volume
it's also possible that there's some MIDI info that GB just isn't set up to view/manipulate
I can imagine. I do appreciate you trying everything you can think of. I copied the track, entered a new project and pasted it in the new track. fade starts at measure 64 now. Ha. Thanks again for all your help. Should I just give up?
at this point, i'm not sure there's any way to fix whatever is lurking in the MIDI data using GB itself
what might work, if the piano piece is repetitious, is to cut off the offending part of the region and replace with earlier parts using either cut/paste, or the arrangement track.
e.g. if the music is a typical verse chorus verse bridge chorus verse set up, and the final chorus and bridge are the corrupted bits, cut that section off and copy in one of the earlier verse sections and the chorus section
One other thing I failed to mention. I did the project in Sibelius. In Sibelius using the play function there is no fade or drop in volume. I also experimented in sibelius using only a section of the song and repeating it then exporting it and it does the same thing on the same measure. Totally weird. I will try to cut it out and doing a loop in garage band to see if that works. I'm so thankful for people like trying to help people like me. Thank You for all you time today. If I'm successful I will let you know.

a full featured notation app like Sibelius could very well write information that GB doesn't expose for manipulation; but your additional experiments really do show weird results.
