How do I track an iPhone if it doesn’t have a plan?

An iPhone was stolen from the user’s family’s house, and the iPhone wasn’t set up. The owner of the phone recently passed away, only my fingerprint unlocks it, we never got the photos off it. The user used only social media to contact. I need to know how I can track it and find it to get it back to the user’s family.

It does not need a plan, but it DOES need to connect to the internet (WiFi is sufficient) _AND_ "Find My iPhone" must be enabled. That is the ONLY way the iPhone can be found.

Settings -> first entry which is "User Name" Apple ID, iCloud, iTunes & App Store entry -> iCloud -> Find My iPhone

You would then go to <http://iCloud.com>, sign in with the Apple ID associated wth the iPhone, and use the "Find iPhone" icon to location all devices associated with that Apple ID that also have Find My iPhone or Find My Mac enabled.
