i am transferring info from my old mac to my ner one and it has been frozen at the same time for hours. is there anything i can do?

Force shutdown by holding down the Power button until the computer shuts down. Wait 10 seconds then restart the computer. It may just pick up where it left off. If it doesn't then you will need to figure out what has been transferred then begin the transfer again but don't include what has already been transferred.
