Wifi connection is working fine for browsing vedios on YouTube etc and for other apps, tried resetting network settings and restarting the phone but none of those seem to work as well,also have enough memory space availabe so not really sure what’s causing this?

Hmm, check your WiFi connection:
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network
Then look at this:
Apps Won’t Download, Install, Update on iPhone since updating to ios 11.2 Download bar just keeps rotating
