The icon that shows how many messages I have shows that I have an iMessage, but I deleted all my messages and it still shows there is ONE message. How can I clear it? I've tried everything I've found online and nothing works. I am running iOS 11.2.

Mine does this once in a while too. Try force closing the app, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and keep swiping toward the top (or double press the home button) and slide the Messages app off the screen. Then open it back up and you’ll probably see the message that is stuck and can delete it and get that notification to go away.

Ok, try force closing it again, but this time before opening it back up restart your iPad. Press and hold both power and home buttons till you see the screen go blank and the Apple logo appear. Once the logo appears release both buttons and let the iPad finish booting and once complete check to see if you open it again if it fixes it.
