CD burning issues - unknown error 0x80004005

Burnt Christmas cd last week, then updated ITunes and can't burn no more. iTunes fault!.

Thank you for your response, but will I lose all my cd's I put on ITunes .

When I would go to print out the playlist it would print out a different playlist. I'm not worried about the playlist,but if I uninstall iTunes won't I loose a couple hundred cd's I put on iTunes .

Yes, your library will be unchanged.

Of course you really ought to Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy or some similar method just in case something goes wrong at any point.

Good idea. Is there a reason I shouldn't back up with a Seagate Backup Plus Slim external drive rather than SyncToy?

This worked! Thank you so much! I wasted a few disks and I tried on 2 different computers. Boo Apple for not sending out notices and/or fixing this problem.

Thanks! This worked for me. Although the quality is crap. It has static. So frustrating. I have been burning cds just fine and now I wasted so many cds.

This also happened to me right after updating iTunes. Also, I am unable to burn a CD with Windows Media Player. I had no problem with either program before I updated iTunes.

After updating iTunes I am unable to burn a CD with iTunes or Media Player.

This is clearly an iTunes issue based on my experience and the many posts and notes I see. I got an update to iTunes 12.7.2 today that I had hoped would fix the problem that surfaced when I first installed this version last week and have the same problem as before.

In addition to problems noted, when I try to burn a playlist that is 79 minutes long that I have burned successfully in the past I am told that the songs are too long to fit on one cd, when in fact, that is not the case.

And it's impossible to get any iTunes support from the Apple Support page as they want a serial number for an Apple device.

Apple needs to address these issues and also show a compatibility mode to Widows 10 when running the Troubleshooter.

Ok - I rang Apple support there - now I wasn't having the problem (they weren't impressed) but apparently this is a known issue recently and they are investigating. They suggested burning an mp3 format or a data disc or using other programs and tt2's idea of reverting software they weren't keen on but said should work for most users with the issue. They also said make sure windows is up to date too.
